OUR GOAL
Implement in Italy the Sendai Framework for DRR, a framework aimed at creating strategies and policies for disaster reduction at all levels by 2030. The Sendai Framework was adopted during the 3rd UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan, on March 18, 2015.
|
We are committed to the dissemination of good practices, conscious that a more widespread culture of prevention and protection of fundamental rights can contribute to the reduction of risks and mortality occurring in emergencies.

THE GIRD
The CSLI Italia has always collaborated with numerous international bodies and institutions to increasingly raise awareness on disaster risk reduction. For this reason, in 2016 CSLI Italia organized a high-level event in Naples, on the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Reduction, convened by the United Nations on October 13. Since then, the GIRD - International Day on Disaster Reduction - has grown in importance and quality, involving numerous actors from the institutional, scientific, associative and civil society sectors. On October 11, young changemakers involved in advocacy and research will discuss the role of youth in preventing environmental hazards and raising awareness.
This year's format sees the development of the themes through an international digital event in English on Oct. 11, a conference in Meta on Oct. 13 and a high-level panel to be held in Rome on Oct. 14 where selected experts from different fields related to prevention, disaster reduction and civil protection will discuss together. The theme of the 2022 edition is glocal, understood as reflecting on both the international and local aspects of emergency response. On October 11, young changemakers involved in advocacy and research will discuss the role of youth in preventing environmental hazards and raising awareness. On October 13, we will discuss disaster and climate change resilience of small Italian coastal municipalities and on October 14 we will focus on international cooperation in responding to major emergencies.
More information about previous editions and speakers can be found on the website.
